When someone covers our eyes with their hand, but we still have our eyes open, we can see their hand. When we close our eyes our mind is telling us we can no longer see, as we have our eyes shut, yet if we concentrate we can see the inside of our eyelids and whatever pattern and light are playing there.
It is a strange feeling, at once seeing, yet not seeing.
This is a metaphor for our lives.
We go about our daily business, going to work, interacting with other people, eating, walking, watching, playing, chatting…we see all that is going on around us, yet at the same time, we see nothing.

It is a well-known fact that we zone out things not relevant to us. This becomes apparent when we learn something new and then we see examples or references to this everywhere that previously we think were not there. ‘What a coincidence’, we may think, but it is the fact that we have shifted our world view to encompass this new learning, and so now ‘see’ it, even if it was always there.
So it is with all the mysterious, ‘undiscovered’ things of the world. Everything is right there in front of us to be seen, but we have to become conscious of them to acknowledge them.
We all have the ability to see life as it really is – all we have to do is be open and accepting to enable ourselves to truly see.
